Training and Exercises

The training is organised by the Protection and Rescue Directorate of the Republic of Macedonia and supported by the Administration of the Republic of Slovenia for Civil Protection and Disaster Relief (ACPDR), Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Slovenia.

  

 BASIC HOT FIRE TRAINING
General Information

  
This training is Slovenian contribution to the Disaster Management Training Programme for 2010 of the Disaster Preparedness and Prevention Initiative for South Eastern Europe (DPPI SEE) and is organised by the Administration of the Republic of Slovenia for Civil Protection and Disaster Relief and supported by the Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency.

PURPOSE
The one-week course focuses on a holistic approach to reducing risks, responding to and recovering from disasters specific to the region of South-Eastern Europe. The course provides in depth orientation on disaster risk reduction concepts and guidance, including the Hyogo Framework for Action (HFA), as well as understanding the key aspects and activities of response and recovery. The course builds upon participants’ existing knowledge base so they can relate disaster risk reduction issues in practical terms to their day-to-day work responsibilities. The course will also allow participants to apply practice to a case study or a simulation exercise culminating in a group project and presentations at the end of the course.

The workshop for the National Platforms for Disaster Risk Reduction in South-Eastern Europe will take place from 28 (traveling day) to 30 September 2009 in Pula, Republic of Croatia fallowed by the back to back seminar on Training Workshop on Multi Hazard Early Warning Systems on 1-3 October 2009.

With the aim to create an integrated response to possible risks of natural and technical - technological disasters in the area of south-eastern Europe, competent services for emergency situations of Montenegro and other countries in the region, initiated, through DPPI Initiative, the organization of international rescue and protection exercise Budva 2009.
 

threatened due to the wide spread use of synthetic materials in constructing buildings, such as plastics. New measures therefore not only enable fire-fighters to be more effective in fire extinguishing, but they also contribute to the improvement of their working conditions and safety.
Training objectives
At the training the participants will gain theoretical knowledge and basic practical skills in the field of fire extinguishing, known as hot fire/flashover training. The training will therefore improve the participants’ knowledge of basic skills and techniques of fire-fighting and basic operational procedures for indoor fires. The training also intends to raise awareness on procedures and practices of fire development and behaviour in different scenarios.
