threatened due to the wide spread use of synthetic materials in constructing buildings, such as plastics. New measures therefore not only enable fire-fighters to be more effective in fire extinguishing, but they also contribute to the improvement of their working conditions and safety.
Training objectives
At the training the participants will gain theoretical knowledge and basic practical skills in the field of fire extinguishing, known as hot fire/flashover training. The training will therefore improve the participants’ knowledge of basic skills and techniques of fire-fighting and basic operational procedures for indoor fires. The training also intends to raise awareness on procedures and practices of fire development and behaviour in different scenarios.

After the training, participants will:
- understand the theory of fire development, fire behaviour and danger effects in different scenarios in indoor fires
- get skills in using breathing apparatus for safe use in indoor fires
- acquire basic knowledge on possible injuries and proper treatment of injuries on the scene
- gain knowledge on how to apply different techniques in fighting fires indoors
- understand basic safety rules and proper use of PPE
- get practical skills in using nozzle techniques and basic operational procedures at some scenarios on flashover situations.

Target audience
The training is intended for professional operational fire-fighters and commanders from the DPPI countries (1-2 per country).
A maximum of 20 people will be accepted. Registrations will be considered on a first comefirst served basis.
Required Equipment
The following equipment is required for each participant:
- fire suit (gear) EN 469
- fire helmet EN 443
- protective gloves EN 659
- fire boots EN 345
- protective hood, 100% Nomex, double layer
Recomended (not required)
- underclothing – long sleeve shirt, 100% Nomex
long trousers ,100% Nomex
Participants must have with them the above listed personal equipment. In the event they do not, the organizers will not accept them due to safety reasons.

Methodology
The training will be implemented as a combined structure of theoretical lectures and practical work given and supervised by the licensed teachers and instructors who were trained by the Swedish Rescue Services Agency. The training ‘’Hot Fire Training - module A’’ is proved and signed by the Minister of Defence of the Republic of Slovenia.

Language
The language of the training will be English and no translation will be provided. Working documents and handouts will also be in English.

Date and place
The training will last 5 days and will be organized from 15-20 March 2009 at the Training Centre for Civil Protection and Disaster Relief in Ig near Ljubljana.
